They say, it takes an entire village to raise a child. Friends, family, a few kind strangers, their donations and short-term, interest-free loans saw us through an initial trial run.
At the end of 5 years, we continue to remain a small operation with big ambitions.
Over the next few years, we see ourselves working towards:
- Revival of naturally brown cotton cultivation with small landholding farmers, including women.
- De-centralisation in short-staple cotton processing [ginning, yarn and textile making] which is critical for market creation. This will naturally lead to re-generation of livelihoods by re-connecting broken linkages in the cloth production chain.
- Building capacities and competencies for pesticide free, naturally coloured brown cotton yarn and textile in the local and international market.
If the above work excites you as much as it excites us, and you have the skills and enthusiasm to make happen ideas of an economy in its people-first, bottom-up approach, you could
